As a first event at Projet Beaumont, FAKE – A brand you can trust teams up with Jose Enrique Montes Hernandez & Yves Laroche Galerie d’art to proudly present an Atypical Photography Exhibition : APE
APE is a collection of large black and white photographs. Each altered individually with drawing and painting, the photography finds a new dimension, a new language. Largely influenced by the street scene, his surroundings and his cultural roots, José shows through his work a free and powerful joy of liberty, with no self-imposed boundaries. Choosing the photocopy medium to print the photographs, José presents a distorted & grainy textured world where the subject, composition and style are the main focus.
Contrary to industry standards for photographic exhibitions, where images must be printed in a high standard, the use of photocopy allows José to explore affordably in reference to some concepts of pop culture, where a single image is to be printed ad nauseam in multiplicity.
With aerosol paint, acrylic or inks, José alters each print. Making every single one unique and original, he then proceeds to fixing them to a solid wooden support.
José Enrique Montes Hernandez is born in 1983 in San Salvador, El Salvador. He lives and works in Montreal Canada.
